The Mystic River is full of life, year-round! Learn about the river that runs through our city and the animals that call it home. The Mystic River Watershed Association’s educators will have lots to share. We’ll explore life on the Mystic together through activities, books, and art.

Do you love dreaming up magical worlds? Join us for a club where we read about magical worlds and create our own. Each week we will read about a magical being (a fairy, a magical creature, etc) and then make our own (drawing, painting, etc) while listening to some music. Let's see what we can dream up!

Explore color changes and chemical reactions from the world around you. Each week will include a hands-on experiment with inquiry. Thank you to Tufts University for generously funding this club!

Everyone loves Lego! We'll be assembling builds and bricks in the library with plenty of ideas and assistance.

Tinker with electronics while learning the basics of computer programming. We begin by experimenting with the fundamentals of electronics and circuitry, and step up to projects where our class of young makers will design their own interactive and programmable devices. Participants use the latest tools including Arduino (for building interactive devices) and Raspberry Pi (for learning about computers and coding) to experiment with LEDs, resistors, motors, and programming. Each class day gives participants the chance to design a hands-on project with the guidance of skilled Circuit Lab instructors.

Winter is here! We will do a variety of winter-themed activities. We will read books and act out stories about winter. We will make many winter crafts, such as snow-people, snowflakes and mittens. We will do science experiments with snow and ice. We will have lots of chilly fun (without getting cold!)

Get ready to roll up your sleeves and dive into the colorful world of printmaking! In this hands-on creative workshop, you will discover how to turn everyday materials into beautiful works of art.

Do you love making art? In this club, we will collaborate to create something together. Every week we will make a different art piece, and we'll display it for the whole school to see! We'll experiment with different art materials and techniques (drawing, painting, sculpting, crafting), different ways to collaborate, and we'll welcome everyone's ideas! Be prepared to be creative, get messy and have fun together as a group! Club might go outside on some days, depending on weather.

This club will introduce kids to coding with Scratch, a block coding language developed at MIT through a series of simple projects.  Students will make animations, a game, an app, and a digital book. No prior experience necessary.
