Our Committees
Fundraising Committee
This committee oversees the efforts to raise well over $20,000 each school year. Duties include coordinating the major art and reading fundraisers in the fall and spring semesters, setting up restaurant nights, recruiting locations to donate goods and services, liaising with the citywide Medford PTO fundraising committee, and much more. Volunteers are needed to make phone calls, solicit donations from businesses, plan activities, and staff PTO events to publicize our efforts!
Events Committee
This committee’s main responsibility is to organize the key PTO events each year, ranging from the Ice Cream Social near the beginning of the year to the End of Year Dance Party that brings our school year to a close – with movie nights and many more in between. Volunteers plan and execute all aspects of the events, from ordering food and supplies, to setting events up, to recruiting on-site volunteers. Our events are key opportunities for members of the community to come together, and for the PTO to publicize its work. Come join us!
Enrichment and Clubs Committee
The enrichment committee plans field trips, in-house programs and after school activities that enhance the student experience. The committee also writes grants to supplement funds for these activities. Enrichment clubs (after school) provide students with opportunities across the school year in numerous activities ranging from arts and crafts to sports to drama, all provided at the lowest possible cost. Volunteers work with the teaching staff or our partners to plan and offer activities, as well as coordinating volunteers and chaperones.
Library and Book Fair Committee
The Missituk hosts a major book fair twice a year. The chairs plan the dates in coordination with our outside partners and our fundraising committee. We need staffing the fairs during the day and one evening event, so that students and their families can select books and other items. Volunteers also work with the librarian to ensure that the school library’s needs are met.
Teacher and Staff Support Committee
This committee supports our teachers and staff to provide school supplies, Scholastic News, and classroom donations. In May, the committee organizes Teacher Appreciation Month, which can include a staff breakfast, a staff luncheon, gifts, and activities.
5th Grade Planning Committee
Parents from the 5th grade class are encouraged to join this committee. Duties include providing support for class trips, the yearbook, 5th Grade Jr. Olympics, and the Moving Up Ceremony.
Garden Committee
The garden committee oversees the revitalization and maintenance of the Missituk outdoor spaces.
Translations Committee
Coordinates written translations for flyers and verbal translation at PTO events.
