Missituk PTO Mission

The mission of the Missituk Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization (Missituk PTO, formerly the Columbus Elementary School PTO) is to support the ongoing academic and social/emotional education of Missituk Elementary School students.

We will accomplish this by working together to:

  • Support the education process;

  • Organize events that promote community;

  • Promote fundraising that will provide cultural and educational enrichment programs for students.

All events organized by the Missituk Elementary School PTO are free of charge, with no admission fee, in order to maximize access for all members of the school community. There may, on occasion, be concessions or other items available for a modest charge. Other citywide events, which may be publicized or supported by the Missituk PTO, may have an admission fee.

Achieving our mission requires an environment of trust and mutual respect, free expression and inquiry, teamwork, and a commitment to serve as good role models for students. Families, caregivers, and teachers, as members of the PTO, agree to abide by the following Community Values:

  • Respect for the rights, differences, and dignity of others;

  • Honesty and integrity in dealing with all members of the community;

  • Accountability for personal behavior.

The Missituk Elementary School community can and should be a living model of these values. To this end, community members have a personal responsibility to integrate these values into all aspects of their experience within the school and the PTO. Through our personal commitment to these values, we can create an environment in which all can achieve their full potential.

The PTO Executive Board oversees all activities of the PTO, manages communications to the school community, and votes on how funds are spent.  Bylaws can be viewed here.  The 2023-2024 Missituk PTO Executive Board can be found here.  Elections to the Executive Board are normally held in June each year.  We also have a number of Committees and we are always looking for help!  Find more information here.
