Missituk Clubhouse
Missituk offers clubs for all grades Kindergarten through 5th grade. There are 4 sessions - Fall (October - November), Winter (January - February), Spring 1 (March - April), Spring 2 (April - May.) Clubs are almost entirely run by parent volunteers. Please consider volunteering to lead or help with a club. Clubs usually have a small fee associated with them, if your family is unable to pay the fee please let us know. The fee should not keep any child from participating.
FAQ
Q: Does registration guarantee my child can join the club?
A: No. The registration form enters your child into a lottery for their first choice club. Clubs are not assigned on a first come, first served basis. All forms that have been submitted by the due date will be treated equally. Clubs with a lot of interest will be assigned by lottery.
Q: How will I know if my child has a spot in a club?
A: Caregivers will receive an email from the clubs email account (missitukclubs@gmail.com) the week after registration closes. The email will inform caregivers of which club their child is able to join, or it will inform them that their child has been waitlisted. Please reply to that email to confirm your child’s participation!
Q: When and how do I pay for clubs?
A: Once you have been notified that your child has a spot in a club, we ask that you pay the fee on the first day the club meets. You may send in an envelope labeled with your child’s name and the name of their club. Place cash or a check (made out to Missituk PTO) inside the envelope. We may also have electronic payment options, which will be explained in the email to caregivers. If the club is cost prohibitive for your family please let us know so that we can make accommodations. The fee should not exclude any child.
Q: What if my child doesn’t get a spot in a club this session?
A: Students who do not get a spot in their selected club will be placed on a waitlist. Waitlisted students are given priority for the next session of clubs.
Q: Why aren’t there more clubs or more spots in the clubs?
A: We would love to offer more clubs! The clubs are organized by and often led by parent volunteers. It takes a lot of work, but the more volunteers we have, the more clubs we can offer! Please reach out to us at missitukclubs@gmail.com if you’d like to help.
Q: How can I help?
A: Excellent question! We are always looking for more parents and caregivers to volunteer to lead or support clubs! The time commitment is about 1.5 hours (2:20- 3:50) one day per week for about 4-6 weeks at a time. If you’re unavailable to help in this way, but you have a contact for a great outside organization that might be able to offer a club at Missituk, please put us in touch! Finally, we are committed to ensuring that students can participate in clubs regardless of their family’s ability to pay. Please consider adding a small monetary donation to your club’s fee if your family is able. These donations help us ensure that all students can participate!
