Citywide PTO Alliance
The Citywide PTO Alliance has been revitalized after a pause during COVID as a way to create a feeling of community between the four Medford Elementary Schools. We strive to do this through information commons, joint events, and sharing resources.
Free and open to all Medford families with children in grades K–8. Pizza and snacks will be provided.
Artificial intelligence is shaping how our kids learn, play, and communicate, both at school and at home. Join us for a free evening where families of K–8 students can explore AI together. Dr. Daniella DiPaola, PhD (MIT Media Lab and RAISE Initiative) will lead a discussion on what AI is, how it reflects our values, and how to talk about it as a family, followed by hands-on breakout stations where parents and kids participate together.
Breakout stations will include:
-
Train an AI model with LEGO Education kits and see how it makes decisions (Tufts Center for Engineering Eduction Outreach)
-
Teachable Machine: train and trick a computer vision model with props
-
QuickDraw: how do machines see?
-
Superhero LLMs: make a personal superhero and learn about data safety
-
AI + Values: an unplugged activity
-
Students demo Tech/AI tools they use in school for their families
Families are encouraged to bring a tablet or laptop to participate in some breakout activities, but this is not required and we will have devices available.
