International Walk, Bike, and Roll to School Day (“iWalk”) is Wednesday, October 4!

Lace up those shoes and pump up those bike tires…it’s time to promote active transportation by walking, biking, or rolling to school! Globally, schools are scheduled to participate in iWalk the 3 mornings per year.

Check out our map of some suggested travel routes (for those farther from the school). Join an existing “walking bus” or “bike train” at one of the following meeting spots along these routes:

  • 7:45 a.m.:  Tufts-Dame Building (80 George St.) – walkers

  • 8:00 a.m.:  Tufts-Dame Building (80 George St.) – bikes/scooters

  • 8:00 a.m.:  Alexander’s (277 Main St.) – walkers

  • 8:10 a.m.:  Tufts Park pavilion (437 Main St.) – bikes/scooters/walkers

No bike locks required! Bikes (though not most scooters) may be locked up outside the school using an extra-long bike cable lock (generously provided for the day), which will be unlocked at the end of the school day. Please note: bikes/scooters will not be stored in a classroom as in previous years.

Bus students will have the chance to participate when the buses let students off at the corner of Congress Ave. and Willis Ave. (about 1/4 mile from the school); school representatives will meet the students and escort them to the school.

The Golden Shoe Award will be awarded to the class with the highest percentage of participants. So make sure to encourage classmates to join and to add their names to the tally upon arrival at school.

Next Walk, Bike, and Roll to school day is May 1st, 2024!
